So, depression can be very dangerous. This condition is due to less productivity and what is more uncomfortable is that once is happened, depression tends to return, thus making our body predisposed to more diseases. Whatever you decide, a few small changes in your home will do no harm, on the contrary, they could even help. The place where we spend most of the time can help us to relieve from this condition.
This article is a sequel of the previous one containing 5 more ways of dealing with depression.
6. Reduce Noise
I have not yet come across a study that connects noise directly with the signs of depression, but given the fact that the military used the noise for torture, I think we actually don’t need such research to be aware of how destructive the noise could be.
I would like to draw the attention to the people who think that they cannot fall asleep without the TV to work. I’m sure quite a few really have trouble falling asleep if there isn’t a background noise, but most do it by habit. The TV screen and the computer actually disrupt circadian rhythms and sleeping disorders are a sign of depression, so I would recommend you to try for a few nights to fall asleep without a working TV. However, if you cannot overcome this, you can set the timer on the TV to turn off. If you listen to the Feng Shui experts and psychologists, the TV has no place in the bedroom or nursery.
7. Pay Attention to Aromas
Aromas directly affect the neurotransmitters in the brain, so dive in boldly into aromatherapy and remove all sources of odours that can affect you negatively. Cooking can be a great aromatherapy too, adding a little vanilla to your bakings will make your home to smell of vanilla and will fill you with satisfaction, whether you have managed to make the baking tasty or not.
The scent of lavender is particularly powerful for depression because of its soothing effect. Lavender helps for restful sleep, and moreover, drives away mosquitoes and moths.
8. Reorder The Furniture
Sometimes we only need a burst of energy to help us deal with depression. According to Feng Shui, the energy in a room tends to stagnate and requires periodic revival in the form of dislocation or cleaning. I think the very act of moving the furniture is enough to increase the level of serotonin in our body, and also planning where things will be put can distract us from unpleasant thoughts.
9. Connect With Nature
It doesn’t matter whether it would be a glance at a beautiful garden in the backyard, at tree or fresh flowers in a vase on the table. Nature has a very favourable impact on the human mind. Putting flowers in a vase is an easy and convenient way to bring a little nature in your home or in the office. Among other things, green is a calming colour, so even a green landscape may be a good idea.
10. Take a Pet
The last tip is known to all, but is absolutely worth repeating, especially for people who love animals. Cats calm and dogs make you go out more regularly, which is not to be neglected by people who suffer from depression.
Actually any pet would help, especially for those who live alone. This way they will feel needed and distracted by negative thoughts. Caring for them is another thing to consider. The daily care they need will give you the opportunity to feel more self sufficient.
Sometimes accidents occur and maintaining a clean home requires immediate measures. A long term solution is to schedule for a regular housekeeping, This way your home will always be clean and you will get to keep your beloved pet.
Pp. : Cats not only can soothe their owners, but also give out sounds in frequencies that help tissue regeneration.
