The main trick to have your patchwork look great is choosing fabrics with prints and colors that work well together. Choose between 5 and 6 different prints that work well together, and then making sure that you use the same fabric twice, those two pieces don’t touch each other. Well, let’s say that is considered as an advanced “do it yourself ”project. Have assistance from someone who has a bigger experience in home projects than you, so you can have the chair made properly. For this job you will need the chair in mind, vintage blankets or fabrics, scissors, pins, power stapler and crocheted flowers. Start, with removing any existing upholstery cleanly from your chair or ottoman. You will use this to make a pattern for your new upholstery pattern. Gather any cut-fabric shapes or flowers you’ve created. Pin them in place and then hand-stitch them onto the blanket. You should have your blanket upholstery cut to size, decorated with cut-out or crocheted decorative details and embellished with any embroidery you like.
The easiest way to create a patchwork carpet is by using rugs. Over dyed carpets and patchwork rugs are trend in the home renovation projects. Often enough these types of carpets and rugs are a best seller at the interior design fairs. You can make a patchwork rug out of carpet remnants or samples. All you need is a little creativity, some colourful strips or squares, and double-sided carpet tape to seam the pieces together and hold them tight to the floor.
TIP:Have in mind that if your rooms have a low contrast colour of the walls, curtain, etc. you can experiment with a high contrast carpet or rug. This could make you room look smaller or bigger. Don’t forget that you should furnish your room with no more than 3 or 4 colours, because a combination of more could make a big “mess”.
