Our ability to care for others is only as strong as our ability to care for ourselves.
Have you ever heard that before? Maybe you have. But are you living life with that in mind, or are you mindlessly, habitually going through the routine of your days? There is a little known secret to stress relief that few people are talking about and it’s all about self care, compassion and trust.
We tend to go through our days bombarded with all the things that others ask us to do for them, whether it’s tasks at work, taking care of the kids, caring for our parents, keeping up the house, running the kids to one activity or the next, running to one meeting or the next, favors for friends and on and on it goes. Where do our needs fit into all of this? When do we squeeze in time to make our own care, our own happiness a priority?
Now, you may be thinking that if we make ourselves a priority we are setting ourselves up for being selfish. But I gotta tell you, there’s a big difference between being selfish and taking care of yourself and it comes down to creating stress or creating stress relief.
