Being aware of mantras
I am on very high alert when it comes to mantras.
Especially these used in the personal development field which are repeated unreflected by everyone.
They often become pillars for our thought constructs, they add to the foundation of our believes.
Pillars of bridges have to be checked regularly so that the bridge´s stability and carrying capacity
The same is necessary for the bridges we build inside that lead us to a wider awareness and broad understanding.
If there are miscalculations in the construction in the first place, the bridges will not stand very long
or lead us in a wrong direction.
So let us be aware of mantras, although commonly used, they don´t necessarily have to be true.
Sometimes they are taken out of the context they belong, sometimes they are one sided and sometimes they are simply wrong.
So, whenever we are confronted with a mantra or are tempted to habitually repeat a mantra next time lets ask: IS IT SO?
For example: “money is neutral, it is not good or bad.” - IS IT SO?
Does this make sense to me?
If it is so, when is it so?
How do I feel about it?
What are my experiences, my observations, my perspective?
What information is missing?
Why would I want to repeat that?
Does using this mantra give me a feeling of belonging?
Who says that?
Where does that come from?
Which ideology and what does this mantra serve?
Where does this believe lead me/us?
Will it sustain the bridge of life?
