Five Aims of Taekwondo "태권도 의 다섯 가지 목표"
The Five Aims of Taekwondo are Respect,Honesty,Humility,Perseverance and Self-Control. Taekwondo really strengthens the mind and body. Every time I practice I feel myself getting stronger mentally and physically. Many things that were physically challenging for me are becoming easier as the days go by. I think fear had a lot to do with the challenges I was facing. In the beginning I was afraid of getting injured, then the fear manifested in my form. Once I got rid of the the mental fear/block. I was able to do things, like punch through a board, and multiple roundhouse kicks while balancing on one leg. One thing my instructor always emphasizes, is make sure you are always running for the number one spot. When he yells "line up" everyone rushes to block number one. If you end up in block number two, three or fifty it doesn't matter, the goal should always be number one. I have experienced some really good lesson thus far. I am also learning Korean words, 감사합니다 means Thank you, and I can count up to ten so far. The Five Aims of Taekwondo are really the Five Aims of Life for me.
