Finding peace in the midst of chaos. Finding joy in midst of turmoil. Finding a way to be grateful when in the midst of pain. These are the challenges of the human experience. Or at least the challenges of choosing an experience of Peace, Joy and Gratitude.
Reminded recently to Savor The Experience the example was painted of the difference between enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning and the EXPERIENCE of sitting with someone dear, and having a deep conversation or watching the sunrise, or otherwise soaking up the moment in peace, joy and gratitude.
Life is busy, chaotic, tumultuous, and indeed, sometimes painful. One of our most effective life preservers in those times can be to remember to savor the moment. Finding peace in a moment of warm sunshine spilling across ones face. Embracing the joy found in a moment of watching a loved one laugh with abandon. Allowing in the gratitude of THIS moment for ALL that it is - the peace, the chaos, the joy, the turmoil, the whole kit-n-kaboodle.
Savor the experience. Right here right now.
We sometimes dwell on what has already passed, taking this moment and washing away the opportunity for peace in a flood of regret. Sometimes we get bogged down in worry about what the future may bring, drowning out the opportunity for joy right now. The past has been lived, whatever it may have been, this is a new moment. The future is yet to unfold, it lives only in our imaginations. Now is all there is. Finding peace in this moment. Experiencing joy in this moment. Being grateful for this moment. That, I believe, is what the human experience is meant to be.
