My Fellow Citizen,
There is so much I wish to convey to you. As well, there are many questions I hope you will seek to answer personally.
Your advancements in space and technology are amazing. I am pleased that there are those of you with a yearning to discover, invent, and create a new intelligence. Education is a vast responsibility that begins at home. Your children know you as their first teachers. There is so much you can inspire in them by simply being with them and allowing their natural curiosity to be stimulated. Wander with them in the out of doors and find marvels of nature with excitement and joy.
Your youth are electronically wired and too often driven by the need to be entertained.. Beyond the demands of your day, perhaps you can find special moments daily in which you may show them how much you value special walks and talks in nature In doing so, many of you are allowing little minds to trust, explore, and inquire. It is my hope you will foster hope in every child regardless of his IQ. It is our responsibility to initiate the desire to learn in little ones. You are the authority, and they learn to trust, respect, and value when you share your stories and hear theirs.
You see, I realize that your youth are your future. So many of them are not feeling secure and truly are not motivated to perform in school. Some have had several stepparents and siblings that are half or step brothers and sisters. It is not easy for them to have relationships that last in their world.
I am certain you can teach basic subjects and graduate a good percentage of students. What will they know about themselves that truly matters now and in a few years out? How concerned are they for the well-being of others? Can they deal with failure? Can they forgive themselves and each other? Have they mastered basic critical thinking skills? Can they converse with another easily? What life skills give them confidence to go on into deeper relationships, a career, or a vocation? Do they understand economics, time management, or how to use currency wisely?
Many of your graduates find out that it takes a lot of experiential living to find their niche. How do they decide their next steps? Is college or trade school a better choice? Do they know any trade or skills that allow them income? When they go with a high school counselor’s recommendation based on grades, have they a degree of clarity that this is their best course of action?
Some of these bright students have a few degrees and no sense of who they are or what is truly important long term. They find little fulfillment in just doing a job routinely. Boring! A deeper inquiry often takes a few years of just getting by. There is a soul quest for something more fulfilling. Perhaps a struggle is needed for a compelling vision to appear. I believe you can master a subject on your own accord.. and seek mentorship as needed. Believe in your ability to succeed.
It concerns me that there is so much instability in a country that is the most affluent in the world. Have we not learned true value in the struggles of our lives? Do you not know that it’s possible to discern your choices with both mind and heart? You can weigh the pros and cons when challenged between two choices, and realize progressively what inspires and motivates you. Here are some questions for your consideration. What values are most important to you? Are you forward thinking and action oriented? Do you see clearly your personal strengths as assets? Are you willing to take a risk and see yourself moving away from familiar territory?
It matters not that you were a great of poor student in school. I myself was mostly self taught. Most of you have had some very “old school” thoughts based on inaccurate evaluations of your intelligence. Let’s consider subtracting some erroneous conclusions about your capabilities. You can do and achieve far more than you can imagine, once you discard others’ opinions of you. It’s as if you are creating a new template. Opportunity awaits the real you, with whom you are becoming more accepting. As you step through a new portal, awake and aware, others see a boldness that attracts and even seeks collaboration.
You, like me, may have had high ideals such as liberty for all and integrity; they go hand in hand. You alone are responsible for being true to you. You will meet up with controversial subjects that test your patience and commitments. You must know what it is you will stand for. Others will likely consider you stubborn. Replace that word with persevering when you believe you’re on course to change the face of mankind.
You’ve come so far already, and all your aspirations I can appreciate. It is not so easy to find humor or peace within on stormy days when dreams seem shattered. Please face in all four directions and let Spirit show you a fresh view.
You can trust the company you’ve chosen. Dare to be a seeker on a quest. You’re collaborating to create a new frontier. I am pleased to see you progressing with new confidence and ease.
