The past 48 hours have been a whirlwind of activity. A blur of crazy, rushed activity, going at 90 miles per hour. Have you ever had days like that?
I am so grateful, right now, to have a quiet moment and be able to simply sit… and write this blog post. To share my insights into something that happened in the past 48 hours that probably has happened to you too.
There is a moment when, no matter how well you may manage your time, your stress or your overwhelm when you inevitably make some kind of mistake. And all too often your first reaction is to judge yourself, blame someone else, or make yourself feel guilty about making the mistake in the first place.
I had a moment like that the other day. I made, what I felt, was a critical mistake… more because it went against my personal core values when it comes to business and my life, than for any other reason. The moment I realized I made this mistake, my body tensed and the first thoughts that slipped into my consciousness were,
“Oh Sh*t!”, immediately followed by the feeling of failure as it began to wash over me because I wasn’t “perfect”. Statements of self criticism, judgement and guilt did their best to worm their way into my mind, my feelings and my soul. And just when I thought they may actually take root, a different feeling rose up from deep within. A gentle feeling, almost like an embrace, encircled my body & soul, and a new awareness took over instead, followed by words of compassion instead of criticism. (Read More)
