It's agreed; a woman will be on the new $10 bills coming out in 2020. The image of a woman on currency is surely an empowering image for all females! The only time a woman has been on US currency was Martha Washington on a $1 silver coin for a 5 year period over 100 years ago, and the Susan B. Anthony $1 coin which was only in circulation 1979-1981, and 1991. It is still to be decided whether Alexander Hamilton will share the space on the bills or whether there will be 2 issues - 1 with the woman and 1 with the current Alexander Hamilton. Let's welcome and celebrate each step of the progress!
The U.S. Treasury Department will be launching a social media campaign for suggestions on which woman it is to be. U.S. law requires all people honored on currency must have passed away.
