I was reading The Fred Factor yesterday. There is a section on building relationships, and the very first step in building relationships is : Be Real.

He goes on to talk about that many of us have heard the saying 'fake it until you make it' He suggests that this is the opposite of our culture today.
"The intent is to become who you want to be by acting like you were the person already. The only problem with that strategy is that you're a fake.

Try this alternative: always do your best being yourself. Aim to improve, try new things and add value. Let that come out of who you really are, what you truly believe in and the things you are committed to.

The prerequisite for relationship-building is trust. At the most basic level, trust is built on believing that someone is who he represents himself to be."

How true this is... I used to live in a fake it till you make it life. Let me tell you from experience: it's absolutely draining. It makes life hard, and disappointing.

But the excellent news is you can choose to change that right now!! The only reason that people in your life expect perfection from you, is because that is what you've always shown and given. When you begin to live life as the person you really are, normal and having flaws, everything falls into place MUCH EASIER!!!

Create a phenomenal day~

As I was reading your blog...I think I have a done a lot of Fake It to make it in this life so far....and you are absolutely right...it is exhausting...now my problem is I want to be REAL and my actual self but its hard at times especially when you are used to saying oh thats ok I can just do it...when you really want to say no its your job you do it....lol This is part of my master plan of the "new" me

Great blog Thank you for this
This is so true! We have to learn to accept our own true self first, warts and all included. Only then can we be free and then we can spread our wings and succeed!

Great blog!
Hi Crystal,

Always good to read your posts! Yes, being real takes a whole lot of unnecessary pressure off of us! :)

Have yourself a wonderful 4th of July with your girls!

This is one of my favorite quotes .....

Aim for success , not perfection.
Never give up because you will lose the ability to learn new things.Move forward with your life....Buddha

I have to share a funny with you I was home saturday cleaning house I had the dance music on and cranked....My husband walked in and asked me what in the world I was doing dancing in front of the mirror and then he said ...I've never seen you move your hips like that...I told him My friend Crystal taught me to move my hips and i got it ...I really was so excited...and then my husband asked me why my feet weren't moving....AND I SAID well I haven't gotten that far yet huh....hehehehe I love how awesome you are ! You are a shinny diamond to me...Lisa
You hit the nail on the head Crystal!!! :) The only reason that people in your life expect perfection from you, is because that is what you've always shown and given. And when I have tried to change for my family to be myself..they would always remind me of my perfection. I got tired of playing that role. At least now I am loved for just being me.:-x
