When one thinks of surrender one usually thinks of loss. But in the realm of success and life as it manifests itself in everyday living, surrender is a victory when we surrender our wills to the Divine Will.

Irritations, bad raps, pain or challenges and opportunities for growth?

Today I have been thinking about the irritations and challenges one of our sons has been experiencing and those I have had in my life. Then I thought of what Dr. Ellie Drake says about the oyster and the grain of sand. To us the grain of sand is very small, but to the oyster it is much more. Over time and much effort, the oyster produces a pearl. Without the sand irritating, it would not have produced such a gift.

We Mourn a Great Proponant of Familes

Today we paid homage to a great proponent of families, President Gordan B. Hinckley of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Pres. Hinckley spent his lifetime striving to strengthen families, not just locally, but world wide. He recognized and supported the world community as children of a loving Heavenly Father. He taught that we must be kind, respectful and supportive of all peoples; that anyone who spoke ill of another race was not a true Christian.

Angels Declare Good Tidings

We think of Angels and Good Tidings this time of year. How many of you have thought about the times angels have declared good tidings throughout the ages. Our scriptures share this method of communicating with us from our Heavenly Father. It just struck me last night reading about how often that has occurred over the ages. Prior to last night I had mostly thought of the angels declaring good tidings to the shepards in the fields the night of our Savior's birth.
