Bout a block from my house you can often hear
The still sound of a whistle in your ear~
Though she may be down the road a mile~
She still brings on a big ole country smile~

My POP loved trains~he would set them up in our house~
We would watch him play just as quiet as a mouse~
As I listen to the whistle and the train draws near~
I work so very hard to hold back the tear~
No matter the mood no matter what I'm doing~

I can hear POP say keep doing what your doing~
Don't worry about the mule going blind load the wagon~
